Handling Solids Addition and Suspension Challenges in Stirred Tanks
Stirred tanks are generally used for processes like powder dispersion, dissolution, leaching, crystallization, precipitation, adsorption, ion exchange, solid-catalyzed reaction, suspension polymerization etc. where solid-liquid contacting is important. In these processes, it is desired to have good solids suspension or draw down so that maximum surface area of the solids particle is available for reaction or mass transfer.
This can be only achieved by optimizing hydrodynamics conditions in stirred tank so that solids particles are suspended uniformly and do not accumulate at any region in the vessel. The interaction between vessel hardware and operating conditions play an important role in ensuring appropriate suspension of solids particle.
This webinar discusses how detailed analysis using MixIT – An Enterprise Mixing Analysis Solutions developed by Tridiagonal Solutions, helps the process engineers to get more insights into mixing performance of stirred tank and handles solids addition and suspension and draw down challenges in stirred tank.
